Yes? Congratulations! You’re just the sort of person we need to join the St Mary’s Flower Team!
Other characteristics that may be useful:
– an hour or so to spare every few months;
– sense of humour;
– interest in flowers.
Of course, if you’re already a skilled flower arranger and would like to use your expertise to create glorious displays, that would be fantastic too! If you’re starting out or just fancy having a go, you won’t be on your own – come and help out for a week or two and see how you get on. It could be the start of something fabulous! Contact Steph Farry for more info. Or text our Project Manager on 07730609446
Volunteers Needed…
We are looking for someone to care for the alter linens. This would entail checking the linens once a week and washing and ironing them as and when needed. Alison Shewell who is giving up this role after an incredible 40 years will be able to show you what needs to be done. If you can help please contact us 07730609446 Thank you
Join our Flowers Team!
Calling all flower arrangers! Whether you can just put fresh blooms in a jam jar, or are a skilled artist who can work with pedestals and oasis, we need your help please.
Steph needs some new volunteers to join the St Mary’s flower arranging team. You can volunteer as often as you like, no pressure to ake a weekly commiment – even once a term is a huge help. It’s a lovely job, making the church beautiful for Sunday services and special occasions.
Interested? Text us on 07730 609446 or message us on facebook @stmarysashvale and we will put you in touch with Steph. Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.

Ashes Good Neighbours launched!
It was a delight to attend the Ashes Good Neighbours launch event this week. The team deserve huge congratulations for getting this new project pff the ground, and have been tireless in thier efforts to recruit volunteers, and in setting set up the necessary frameworks such as safeguarding, documantation and procedures to ensure everything is built on firm foundations. The Ashes Good Neighbour Scheme has now launched, and the phone line will be live from Monday 23rd October 2023.
What’s it all about? Ashes Good Neighbours’s objective is to enable volunteers to help older and vulnerable people get out and about to their appointments. The scheme will be offering residents of Ash, Ash Vale, and Ash Green, transport to appointments such as doctors, hospital, and dentist; visit to the library or a club; help with shopping; or simply a friendly chat over a cup of tea.
Interested in volunteering? Volunteering is flexible to suit your lifestyle with no regular commitment required. All volunteers who will have face-to-face contact with clients have undertaken a DBS check. It is not too late to volunteer; the scheme will always be open to new people joining. If you would like to know more, please email office.ashesgn@gmail.com or phone 07935 515221.
