Each year Ash celebrates the start of the Christmas Season by holding a Christmas Market at the Ash Centre (Ash Fantasia 2022). This year it will be held 12 pm – 4 pm Saturday 26th of November, and there will be both inside and outside stalls including some small fairground attractions in the Ash Centre car park. The Centre will be full of local organisations, charities and businesses with lots of fun, games and present ideas. At 4:30 pm the Ash ValeEnsemble band will play Christmas carol music in front of the Christmas Tree in the village centre. Residents are invited to join in by singing along to the Christmas carols. The event culminates with the arrival of Santa who will be turning on the Christmas Lights throughout the Parish at 5 pm.
The Chapel Project team was delighted with the food projects being nominated as one of the local Co-op Community Fund charities for 2022. However, they do absolutely need your votes please to ensure they receive as much funding as possible.
Have you seen this poster in the Co-op in Ash Vale? It tells you a bit more about what we do. It’s a wonderful partnership, working together to help local people.
Please do vote for us, every vote counts! Voting link: https://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/63269 Your support means we can do even more for our community. (voting deadline 21 Oct 2022) Thank you for your support, your vote makes all the difference .

We are looking to crowdfund the remaining money owed to Dan Austin, the artist behind this incredible, much admired and loved table, which he is letting us have at a very reduced rate. Please chip in and help! We need £1750 to pay the balance of what is owed.
St Mary’s has used this table for a year now, and it works wonderfully – it’s literally part of the furniture!
It is a table that is completely unique, inlaid with wood sourced from all around the world by Revd Neil and Dan. It was 5 years in the making and we have had it for a year. It even featured as our Christmas postcard in 2021.
Did you know? Dan Austin has been supporting mission and ministry at St Mary’s since Revd Neil’s arrival here in 2007. This includes mission in Uganda, setting the bike race in 2010. He is the artist who created the St Mary’s painting at the back of the narthex, and designed many years of Parishioner Magazine covers. He has also been extremely generous with his time and talents providing us with postcards at Christmas and Easter.
Please donate today! We have given ourselves a deadline to pay for the table by the end of August.
You can donate online, donate cash or cheque in a labelled envelope at church, or send a bank transfer with “Table” as the reference.
Thank you, and bless you for your support. Do come and enjoy communion with us at the table on Sunday.
Neil on behalf of the PCC
Please note – In the unlikely event that we are unable to raise enough to fund the table, we will use any funds raised to plant trees in Uganda instead, via the AWU projects we support. If we raise more than we need, any excess will likewise go to Uganda tree planting to grow the next table!
Contemplative Prayer – Wednesday evenings: Sarah will be starting a regular Wednesday evening session of contemplative prayer in the Church from 22nd June. This will be a weekly event with the lead being shared between Neil and Sarah. More details of timings are available by contacting the church office parishoffice@ash-vale.org.uk.
Prayer is central to God moving in our lives and we have several ways in which we gather as a fellowship to pray. Other ways to pray together include the prayer chain, Tuesdays at 11:45am in Church, monthly Friday evening prayer meetings, prayer ministry after the service on Sundays, and in our homegroups. How is God calling you to pray?
God desires us to be in relationship with Him and praying is simply talking to God and including Him in everything that you do. If you don’t feel comfortable praying or feel unsure of how to pray, do talk to Revd Neil or anyone from the Prayer Ministry Team.
